Olive earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Utah State University, where she started as an undergraduate researcher investigating type IV CRISPR-Cas bacterial defense systems. She continued her work as a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Ryan Jackson at Utah State, where she used X-ray crystallography to determine the structure of viral inhibitors to bacterial immunity. When she’s not at the lab, you can often find Olive at home baking, tinkering with electronics projects, or rockhounding and foraging outdoors.
